PDF Form Fields
What is a Form Field?
Form Fields are similar to “Elements” in a PDF document in the fact that they are fields of information that can be added to or edited in any PDF. There is, however, one key difference. Form Fields are used to make a PDF “fillable”, meaning that they are intended for use once the PDF has been turned into a template.
Once it is a template, users are able to “Use” that template to create new unique copies of the document for individual “Signees” to fill out when they are asked to complete the document. In Galaxy Forms, the following form fields are currently in use:
Form Field Examples
Inputs
Inputs are used when the “Signee” or the “Sender” need to input information. This could be anything from text, to phone numbers, or even URLs for hyperlinks. The current list of options for an input is:
Types of Input Fields | |
---|---|
Text | Number |
Date | |
Time | Phone Number |
URL | Date/Time |
Checkboxes
Checkboxes are used when "Signees" are needing to check information. This is typically used for option selection, or an acknowledgement of what the "Signee" is completing. Check boxes can be given a Field Name as well as the desired layer of the page to occupy.
Selection Menus
Selection menus are used for when a "Signee" needs to select one option from a list of choices. In this example, there is a selection menu that has been created with a list of insurance companies for a customer to select.
Radio Fields
Radio field buttons are very similar to check boxes, however with a Radio group, only ONE option can be selected at a time. If a group of three buttons is set together, only one of them can be checked. Checkboxes operate individually and can all be checked/unchecked
Signature Fields
Signature fields are meant for obtaining the signature from a "Signee" in a document. These should be placed anywhere that a signature will be required in any document that is to be completed.
